David Bowie has shared the details of his 25th studio album, which will be titled Blackstar and will be released on his 69th birthday, which falls on January 8 2016.
The album will follow Bowie’s last album release from 2013, The Next Day, which was his first release after a ten year recording absence. According to London’s The Times, Blackstar is his “oddest yet” and is “completely bonkers”, featuring German style electro and jazz influences.
The album’s title track will have a running time of ten minutes, with Bowie declining to provide a radio edit, with The Times reporting that it will only be available as “all or nothing”. The track will be released on November 18 as the album’s first single.
