David Bowie will be immortalised in emoji form with the newest iOS update

Some details have just been released for the next iPhone iOS update, and it turns out the emoji game is pretty damn strong. Amongst a sleuth of updated transport and food emojis, a new group of ‘profession’ emojis have emerged, including the ambiguously named ‘Male and Female Singer’ emojis.

Despite the bland titles, they’re clearly based on the iconic 1974 David Bowie album cover Aladdin Sane.

As a homage to the late pop star, a pair of David Bowie emojis have appeared in the next iPhone iOS update, a clear nod to his 1974 record Aladdin Sane.

Another newcomer with this update also needs some attention. It’s got another tragically boring name, but the ‘Call Me Hand’ emoji is clearly a shakas in disguise.

Funnily enough, it’s probably the emoji half of Australia will send when they hear there’s been a David Bowie emoji added to their phones.
