Happy birthday triple J Unearthed!
The little brother of Australia’s biggest youth radio station is turning 10 years old today, which marks a decade of championing emerging and independent Australian artists in those precarious early stages when a leg up makes all the difference.

We all start somewhere is the sentiment behind the birthday celebrations, which pretty well sums up what triple J Unearthed is all about – providing a platform for young artists to reach a national audience, gain feedback from some of the biggest tastemakers in the industry and get airplay on Australia’s only national radio network.
Triple J Unearthed launched their online platform back in 2006, which for the first time gave independent artists a place to share their music to both potential fans and triple J tastemakers alike.
In the ten years since, Unearthed have championed emerging Aussie artists through a number of different initiatives, including triple J’s Unearthed High comps which launched back in 2008, triple J Unearthed digital radio and countless competitions giving young artists the chance to play some of the biggest festivals in the country.
Unearthed is undeniably an indispensable resource for young Aussie musos, and without it artists like Grinspoon, Courtney Barnett, Ball Park Music and Flume might never have seen the light of day. We reckon they deserve a massive pat on the back.
