The Killers have broken Glastonbury’s record for the loudest set ever

Headliners of Glastonbury, The Killers, have broken the record for festival’s loudest set ever.

Their Saturday night slot reached 106 decibels for those in front of the stage, according to the company behind the speakers, Martin Audio.

Glastonbury headliners, The Killers, broke the record for loudest set during their Saturday night performance, reaching 106 decibels.

Even while making Glastonbury history, recent technological improvements allowed their levels to remain under 65 decibels for the strict restriction for off-site sound.

This is a major win for the band after their last set at the festival back in 2007 which was tethered by sound restrictions. In an interview with NME, the Killers spoke about their previous performance, I remember there was some kind of restriction on the sound and the dB levels, things like that. And there were problems with the PA. I remember being frustrated to get to that point have these unforeseen things put a cloud over the experience.  We thought we were pretty good, I’m sure there were some good moments.”

Lauryn Hill and Janet Jackson weren’t so lucky this year, both publicly slamming sound engineers from the festival due to technical issues with their microphones. Before going on stage, The Killers summarised Glastonbury“That festival does such a good thing for charity, but they can end up falling short in a lot of the practical areas and fundamental festival set-up and production. Shit like that happens though.”

They did not, however, fall short at all this year. During this massive return to the English festival, they also brought out Pet Shop Boys and Johnny Marr from The Smiths for an epic finale. This is one for the history books.
