Diplo set to perform atop Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge

21st birthday celebrations are typically of the more extravagant variety, but the Sydney Harbour Bridge have decided to take things up a notch, announcing that US producer Diplo will perform on top of the actual bridge (yep, you read that right) as part of its celebrations for the 21st anniversary of Bridge Climb

While an estimated four million people have ascended the landmark since Bridge Climb began in 1998 (including celebrities such as Hugh Jackman, Heidi Klum and Ben Stiller), this marks the first occasion someone has been invited to perform on the bridge.

US producer Diplo will be the first artist to perform atop Sydney’s Harbour Bridge, in celebration of Bridge Climb’s 21st birthday.

The logistics of the event are yet to be established. Will anyone actually be able to see Diplo from all the way across the harbour? Is the set going to go ahead if it rains? Will he only play bridge-specific tracks? (Under The Bridge? Bridge Over Troubled Water? Fergie’s iconic London Bridge?).

The performance is in support of Diplo’s appearance at Listen Out festival (alongside the likes of Flume and JPEGMAFIA) which kicks off in Melbourne on Friday, before wrapping up in Sydney on October 5th.
