Dive into Tara Kannangara’s immersive new single I Made This For You

It was in 2015, with the release of her debut full-length album Some Version Of The Truth, that we were first introduced to the ethereal sounds of Toronto-based artist Tara Kannangara. Her music is simultaneously grounded and explorative; it’s rooted in jazz and pop, but reaches far wider.

Now, as she gears up to release her second full-length album It’s Not Mine Anymore, Kannangara has unveiled her latest single I Made This For You, further establishing herself as one of indie music’s more exciting emerging acts.

On her new single I Made This For You, Toronto-based artist Tara Kannangara presents a vast and heartfelt slice of jazz-laden synth-pop.

Throughout the new single, Tara Kannangara glides through a rich blend of jazz, synth-pop, and indie to craft a sound uniquely her own. With vast instrumental arrangements and endearing vocal melodies, I Made This For You feels equal parts cinematic and heartfelt. It will float around your body before landing comfortably in your bones.

Across the track’s five-minute run-time, Kannangara navigates myriad sonic territories—she never sits in one place for too long. As the song builds, so too does a real sense of catharsis. Layers of synths and vocal lines are weaved into one another, creating a truly immersive listening experience.

I Made This For You is the second taste of Kannangara’s upcoming album It’s Not Mine Anymore, and judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes.
