Ellen DeGeneres was ambushed by paparazzi to comment on her ex-girlfriend’s devastating car crash which left the actor in critical condition in hospital, and a home in ruins.
Anne Heche and Ellen DeGeneres were one of the most famous couples in Hollywood, dating from 1997 to 2000. At the time, Heche was very vocal about their relationship, expressing to anyone that would listen, her feelings on her personal choice to love openly whomever she chose. Some in the industry felt that she may have gone a little above and beyond in oversharing.
When the famous couple broke up in 2000, Heche believed that it was her relationship with DeGeneres that caused her to not get a major motion picture role for almost ten years, and led to her being “blacklisted” from the industry.
“I didn’t do a studio picture for ten years. I was fired from a $10 million picture deal and did not see the light of day in a studio picture,” Anne explained in an interview with Page Six.
Ambushed by paparazzi yesterday, the former daytime show host was pressured to comment on her former lover’s accident and critical condition.
Ellen said that she wasn’t in touch with Anne: “Not in touch with each other, so I wouldn’t know.” But she did send well wishes to her.
“It was quite a dangerous accident that happened, wasn’t it?” the photographer asked, to which Ellen replied, “Sure was.”
“I don’t want anyone to be hurt,” Ellen said.
Anne’s representative told People, “She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention. She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”
Ellen DeGeneres was spotted out in public for the first time since her ex-girlfriend Anne Heche crashed her car into a home in California. The former talk-show host dated Heche from 1997 to 2000. DeGeneres says they do not talk to each other anymore but wishes her well. pic.twitter.com/kXei3qVIK1
