Father Christmas snorting cocaine featured on new Walmart sweater

In December, it is only to be expected that our favourite stores will be decked out in some pretty atrocious Christmas attire.

But Walmart in Canada may have gone too far (or just far enough), releasing a Christmas sweater which features Santa Claus doing lines of cocaine.

Christmas sweater

Walmart has apologised for selling a jumper on its website that features our very own Father Christmas doing lines of cocaine with the caption “Let it snow.”

If the image of the ugly sweater doesn’t tell a thousand words, then the product description on Walmart Canada’s website sure does:

“We all know how snow works. It’s white, powdery and the best snow comes straight from South America. That’s bad news for jolly old St Nick, who lives far away in the North Pole. That’s why Santa really likes to savour the moment when he get his hands on some quality, grade A, Colombian snow.”

After the sweater caused quite a stir, Walmart apologised and had the product taken down from the company’s website. A spokesman for the retail giant said:

“These sweaters, sold by a third-party seller on Walmart.ca, do not represent Walmart’s values and have no place on our website. We have removed these products from our marketplace. We apologise for any unintended offence this may have caused.”

The Walmart site was selling a range of naughty  sweaters including one showing an upside-down snowman with a carrot nose and two baubles hanging below it, as well as one which proudly displayed Santa roasting his “chestnuts” over a fire. These items, in line with coked-up Santa, have also been swiftly removed.

If only we could get our hands on these beauties. Wouldn’t that make Christmas lunch at Grandma’s a real treat?
