There’s something undeniably hypnotic about the music of Fintan Alexander Oag. Since finishing his Bachelor’s of Music in 2017, the Melbourne-based composer has crafted a sound that feels simultaneously intimate and expansive; it’s grounded in blissful minimalism, but reaches far wider.

On Broken End Bliss, the first track from his debut album Tortoiseshell, Oag showcases his incredible penchant for weaving contemporary classical gems. If you’re not already across this name, we strongly recommend you change that.

Broken End Bliss, the first track from Fintan Alexander Oag’s debut album Tortoiseshell, is an expansive sonic journey.

Throughout the track, Fintan Alexander Oag flips between modes, creating a sprawling sonic journey. With carefully arranged instrumentals, Broken End Bliss expands into an immersive musical universe. It’s the kind of music you could walk around inside of for hours.

Over the course of its five-minute duration, the song pulls in myriad sonic directions—it never sits in one place for too long. This, however, is the track’s most captivating quality. One moment you’ll be floating through blissful minimalism, and the next you’ll be drenched in rich string arrangements.
