Funk legends to grace Sydney this January for new Summer Series Festival

The likes of The Jacksons, Kool & The Gang and The Village People will be gracing the Domain this January as part of Sydney’s new Summer Series festival, presented by MJR.

In their massive debut lineup drop this morning, Sydney Summer Series announced the first of many events for their inaugural year, with each one building on a different theme.

Headling the first disco, soul and funk event is The Jacksons (featuring original members Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon) who will play all their big hits: Can You Feel ItBlame It on the BoogieI’ll Be There and ABC.

Kool & the Gang promises a Celebration and a Jungle Boogie, and The Village People (led by founding member Victor Willis) will prove why they are the kings of disco with their smash hits Macho Man, YMCA, In The Navy, Go West and Can’t Stop the Music.

Sister Sledge will bring the party with Lost in Music and We are Family, and the Sounds of the Supremes (lead by original Supremes member Kaaren Ragland) will open the party with both original Supremes hits and other Motown-era classics. The Pointer Sisters are on board, too.

Sydney Summer Series will kick off on January 12, 2019, with more events to follow.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, August 14 at 10 am.
