Last night in Melbourne, the first ever instalment of Australia’s MTV Unplugged was recorded with Gang Of Youths at The Meat Market’s Cobblestone Pavilion.
Now it has been revealed that the stripped-back performance will air on MTV on Sunday the 19th of August at 6pm.
“It’s something that feels intimate and really powerful”: Gang Of Youths’ history-making MTV Unplugged performance will air this August.
The broadcast will then be followed by a full visual and audio release, which you’ll be able to stream and download.
Included in the performance were renditions of such songs as Let Me Down Easy and The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows, all as 1,200 red roses sat suspended above the band.
“MTV Unplugged is pretty extraordinary,” frontman Dave Le’aupepe says.
“You hear the crackles in their voice. It’s something that feels intimate and really powerful.”
The second instalment of the new series is set to feature Amy Shark, though no specific broadcast date has been set.
