George Harrison’s handwritten lyrics for ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ are up for sale

The original handwritten lyrics for George Harrison’s Beatles composition While My Guitar Gently Weeps are up for sale.

Memorabilia company Moments In Time have put the lyrics on auction for the small price of $195,000 (US).

George Harrison’s original handwritten lyrics for The White Album track While My Guitar Gently Weeps are up for auction for $195,000 (US).

The Beatle’s track appears on their sprawling masterwork The Beatles (AKA. The White Album). It’s notable for not only being one of Harrison’s limited but incomparable additions to the band’s discography, but also for being the only track to include an outside guitarist. The guitarist, of course, was Eric Clapton.

Harrison describes the experience, “I was driving into London with Eric and I said, ‘What are you doing today? Why don’t you come to the studio and play on this song for me?’” Understandably, Clapton was a little freaked out by the prospect. Luckily, he accepted the offer and recorded one of the most powerful guitar songs ever put to tape.

The handwritten lyrics include spelling corrections from Ringo Starr along with early examples of the songs lyrical content.

If you’re a Beatle-maniac, this might be the perfect addition to your collection. However, from past experiences, Beatle memorabilia will often surpass a million dollars with ease.

If you did want to put a bid on the item, you can make your wildest dreams come true here.
