Today Gio has dropped a live video and it’s tugging at all the right heart strings.
Replete with recurring waves of golden acoustic tones and a voice as unique as his music, Gio is one songwriter with a wealth of talent at his fingertips.
With music so intimate, stripped back and innately powerful it’s a neat treat to see such a beautiful live video to accompany it. Gio embraces the performance like it might very well be his last. There is a tender preciousness to this artistry. Rather than just going through the motions it certainly feels special and acutely heartfelt.
Your Face was recorded and mastered at Allan Eaton Studios – a humble little tin-shack on the edge of a 20-acre farm. Gio certainly appreciates the beauty of simplicity, and Your Face is a resplendent reflection of that.
A yearning, tortured plea to simultaneously remember and forget the face of a lost lover. A master craftsman of emotive lyricism, Gio injects just the right amount of imagery and common phrase to mould an image that is both accessible and beautiful.
Gio’s most notable strength however is his unique, lovelorn voice. When you have a song so stripped back with nothing to hide and it still lands with such force, there’s a clear indication of mastery in the work.
