Blending video game synths and punishing pop punk drums and guitars, Glitch Kingdom deliver an unrelenting and anthemic single.
Channelling their pop punk ancestors with a modern spin, Glitch Kingdom nail all the genre’s tropes that make it so enduring – capturing the nostalgia of the early 2000s and the current pop punk revival, though perhaps more authentically than the likes of Machine Gun Kelly.
Glitch Kingdom’s love of Nintendo is possibly also sparking the sense of familiarity. The group weave these influences throughout Candy’s Save Point, particularly with their opening synth, which is reminiscent of an eighties style arcade game.
The most enticing essence of Candy’s Save Point is the group’s energy. Not limited to the pounding double kick and blast beats, Glitch Kingdom keep up with each other equally; in fact, they spur each other on.
Candy’s Save Point is also a demonstration of the band’s proficiency. Executing their riffs and grooves with a speed and precision that causes Glitch Point to stand out amongst the growing garden of pop punk players.
Vocally bearing comparison to the early releases of Tonight Alive, there is a strength and resilience that lends a superhuman quality to Candy’s Save Point.
