GoPro HERO12 Black delivers longer battery life, HDR video and wireless audio
GoPro has announced the HERO12 Black, the latest flagship action camera from the brand, bringing improved battery life, upgraded stabilisation and a stack of creator focused features to its rugged camera line-up.
One of the biggest improvements is runtime, with GoPro claiming up to twice the recording time of its predecessor through a redesigned power management system. HERO12 Black can record for up to 70 minutes at its highest 5.3K60 setting, or more than 155 minutes at 1080p30, with stabilisation active.
Image quality also takes a step forward with HDR video and photo capture, available in both 5.3K and 4K video modes. The camera retains its versatile 8:7 sensor, allowing footage to be reframed for widescreen, square or vertical content, while the new Vertical Capture Mode records 9:16 video with the camera mounted horizontally.
For vloggers and content creators, HERO12 Black introduces wireless audio support for AirPods, Bluetooth microphones and other wireless audio devices, making it easier to record narration, interviews or voice commands without a traditional wired setup.
GoPro has also upgraded its stabilisation system to HyperSmooth 6.0, with improved AutoBoost and 360 degree Horizon Lock for smoother footage in fast moving situations. More advanced users get access to GP-Log, LUT support and timecode sync for multi-camera productions.
The HERO12 Black is waterproof to 10 metres without a housing and now includes a standard 1/4-20 mounting thread, making it easier to use with tripods and existing camera accessories.
With longer shooting times, flexible framing and more serious production tools, the HERO12 Black looks built for everyone from weekend adventurers to creators needing a compact camera that can slot into a professional workflow.
