It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had new music from Grimes. With her recent relationship with Elon Musk, she been in the media a lot, just not for new tunes. Well, we’re pleased to announce that today, that changes.
Posting to her Instagram, the global weirdo has announced her first album since the release of Art Angels in late 2015. Titled Miss_Anthropocene, Grimes describes the album as “a concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of Climate Change” (whatever that means).
We haven’t heard a lot of music news from Grimes lately, but she’s finally announced her new album Miss_Anthropocene, and if the lead single is anything to go off, it should be a good one.
The first track off the album, We Appreciate Power dropped late last year, and offers our first look at what this new sound is like. And the video is a perfect demonstration of Grime’s weird and wonderful visual style.
While there’s no official release date for the new album as of yet, she does mention that she may drop some singles or an EP before the release. She says that they’ll be “synth-based stuff… because [the album] mostly ethereal nu metal (ish), and I know a lot of ppl miss the synths and whatnot.”
