So fresh off the track’s release, we caught up with the artist himself to chat all about it, musical journeys, and what the future holds.
Hot off the release of his adrenaline-pumping new single A Violent Glide, we caught up with producer Haavi for a chat.
HAPPY: Hey, how’s it going? What are you up to at the moment?
HAAVI: Hey Bill, I’m great thanks. I literally just woke up and turned on my laptop to check some downloads before I start getting ready to go to work, I’m away for 11 days so my laptop keeps me sane.
HAPPY: We’ve been loving A Violent Glide! How does it feel having the track out there in the world?
HAAVI: It’s definitely a relief, between juggling away from work duties and trying to catch up on important things when I’m back home I wasn’t giving myself enough time to focus on my music. But I feel as though that weight has been lifted off of my shoulders!
HAPPY: Could you tell us a bit about the song?
HAVVI: It only took me a morning period to write the main on going drum pattern and bass arp for the track, I went away for 13 days with no laptop and that really helped me nut out in my head where I wanted that track to go.
HAPPY: For us, the song felt like a very intense journey. Did you have a specific type of ‘journey’ in mind when you created the song?
HAAVI: Yes definitely! Every song I write is a journey, I make sure the listener has a start and finish point, this is one way I feel like I can have a greater effect on the people who listen to my music.
HAPPY: Could you walk us through the process of how a Haavi song come together? What’s the process?
HAAVI: Ok, so it usually starts with the intro for me, but hey if it’s a delicious bass line groove that fits or a chunky hook then lets work off that!
HAPPY: Are there any other artists you’re really loving at the moment?
HAAVI: I haven’t had much chance to tune into the radio while I’m away for work but Australian wise I’m loving the new track by Wongo – Caught Up and Ninajirachi’s recent 2 track release has also been bookmarked.
HAPPY: What’s next for Haavi? Any other exciting plans in the works?
HAAVI: I have a new single coming out within the next month so be ready for your next taste of Haavi.
