Happy Mag’s guide to WAMFest 2018

Last month, when WAMFest announced the first 32 artists for their 2018 lineup, we were pretty damn excited. Then last week, they went and added another 116 artists to their lineup… and we were bursting at the seams with uncontrollable excitement.

Next month, from October 31st to November 4th, WAMFest will showcase all the best music Western Australia has to offer, and we can’t wait to soak it all in. Though with that many live performances on offer, it can all get a little overwhelming. So here’s out guide to this phenomenal event.

WAMFest 2018 is almost here… and we’re pretty bloody excited! So here’s out extensive guide to this absolutely huge Western Australian event.

This mini-festival will take place across multiple stages and venues across Northbridge, turning the area into a massive hub of insanely good live music (plus it’s all free)!

Music

32 + 116 = 148. That means there’ll be 148 different acts to see live at WAMFest this year… which is a lot.

The key to a festival like WAMFest is planning. Check out the program, grab yourself a pen and some paper, take some notes, and carefully plan out where each of your favourite acts are playing and when.

If you’re looking for some A-grade acts to see live, Great Gable, Noah Dillon, and Spacey Jane are all definitely worth your while. But browsing through the festival’s lineup is also a great way for discovering great new tunes. Pick out a few bands at random… they may end up becoming your new favourite band.

WAMCon

In addition to all this great live music, WAMFest will also be holding WAMCon; a two day conference aimed at furthering the careers of people in all creative fields and industries.

With a huge speaker-list full of industry pros, this conference will feature a series of keynote presentations, panels, masterclasses, workshops, networking events and more.

This year, industry icon Don Letts will be bringing his decades of knowledge to the conference. Having worked alongside such people as The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Bob Marley, Paul McCartney and George Clinton, Letts is not someone whose wisdom you want to miss out on.
