Handsome boyband heartthrob turned handsome ex-boyband androgynous icon Harry Styles is set to release Fine Line, his second studio album for Columbia Records, on December 13th. The album he explained is “all about having sex and feeling sad.”
This week, he told Zane Lowe he encountered mushrooms for the first time during the album’s fruition. He also credits the experience of psychedelics as having some influence on the new album.

“I was with my friends and we were in Malibu. I felt so safe. It was like, ‘I want to take some mushrooms, I’m going to take some.’”
He names stress relief and managing his self-consciousness as key contributors to his embracement of mushrooms. He goes on further to say:
“I think my thing with with drugs is, if you’re taking anything to escape both to try and hide from stuff then you shouldn’t even drink. And if you’re taking anything to have fun and be creative, then great.”
It hasn’t all been Lights Up and Watermelon Sugar though… in August, Styles was reportedly just lying in the grass, listening to Ram in the sunshine with the inside speakers turned out into the yard when he bit off the end of his tongue. Don’t have to guess if he was tripping balls, because he can confirm he was.
“We’re in Malibu. I’m 24. I’m also in music…I’m not a politician. I don’t think it’s that crazy.”
