Brisbane artist Hatchie has been killing it this year. Now, following the release of her debut EP, and a bunch of huge shows in support, Hatchie has taken out the prestigious $25,000 Levi’s Music Prize.
Presented in conjunction with QMusic and Sounds Australia, the prize is open to all artists who have performed at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND over the past five years.
Following an absolutely huge year, Brisbane singer-songwriter Hatchie continues to kill it by taking out the $25,000 Levi’s Music Prize.
Hatchie (real name Harriette Pilbeam) released her debut single Try back in 2017, and dropped her debut EP Sugar & Spice in May this year.
“It makes such a big difference, not only for the big things like helping pay for flights and visas and accommodation and everything but even little things, like we can probably afford to get someone to do our sound overseas now, which makes a really big difference,” Pilbeam said.
“It’s not just trying to focus on Australia, it’s helping you to take that massive step of getting overseas, which not many bands from Brisbane get a chance to do.”
Hatchie is about to embark on a huge tour of the United States, with additional dates booked in Paris and London through September and October.
