Sydney based Horegeous are a dirty, hard rock band who have been frequenting the local live music scene since 2010. The boys released their debut EP The Rambunctious Ploy a few years back and are now heading back into the studio to record their follow up 4-tracker. They’ve already swung us a sweet little taste of what to expect with a few tracks up on Soundcloud now for your delectation.
Bluesy rock band Horegeous are hitting the mean streets of Sydney to get drunk with you and bang your head ’til it hurts.
These boys are everything that’s right about hard rock – tempest, raw, best consumed live and so, so head-bangable. The strong presence of the bass and drums in all of Horegeous’ tracks almost works as a signature for the band – it creates a wall of sound, which characterises in my mind memories of early 90’s hard rock. It also helps that the lead vocal styling is super raw, nicely complimenting the band’s already gritty sound.
The Rambunctious Ploy was an EP full of absolute head-banging winners like Petticoat Blues and the Wild Ones, not simply because they tick the mark musically but also because they contain the elements of catchy, crowd-pleasing tracks, with zero cheese. Vegan friendly. You just want to get boozed up and have a bit of fun, which is exactly the reaction one should have to an EP like this.
Basically, if you’re a fan of fun (fuck the police), then Horegeous are for you. Try not to consume any more than your recommended daily dosage (we won’t stop you if you do though). Also, try to catch these guys bouncing around the live music scene. They’re well worth the trip outside in the suddenly freezing cold Autumn nights, and have a gig supporting Dirty Youth at the Cambridge on the 4th June.
