Enter the sprawling and shimmering indie-pop sounds of Islandis’ new single Our World

Sydney indie-pop duo Islandis have returned with a glistening, sun-dappled new track titled Our World.

The track is the band’s third single, following up from Your Lover and Home – both equally impressive tracks that stand out in a year of great releases. Though on Our World, the duo continue to refine their euphoric sounds to deliver something truly captivating.

On their incredible new single Our World, Sydney duo Islandis weave together dreamy vocals with bright, textured production to deliver something truly hypnotic.

With cascades of shimmering percussion, subdued guitars and beautifully harmonised vocals, Our World is pure candy to the ears. Once you hit play on this new single, you’ll have it on repeat for weeks.

The song sounds like the touching musings of a hopeless romantic, as vocalist James Chave-Dubois sings about wanting to move on and being sick of indecision, but also how he longs to relive past memories.

The song’s instrumentals effortlessly lull you into dreamlike choruses and wakeful verses, as Dubois sings about embracing the present, while being unable to stop thinking about the past. Ultimately, Our World is a defiant proclamation of persistence, a point iterated by Dubois repeating, “This is our world.”

These are still relatively early days for this Sydney duo, but judging by what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes from Islandis.

Our World is out now and available on all streaming platforms. Listen above.
