‘The Godfather’ and ‘Misery’ legend James Caan dies aged 82

James Caan, best known for his stellar performance as Sonny Corleone in The Godfather, and his best-loved role in Stephen King’s Misery has passed away.

The news was released by James Caan’s Twitter account on Thursday in a statement that read: “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Caan was quite the hell-raiser, born and bred in the Bronx, his first career choice was actually football until fate took him down another path, upon meeting Francis Ford Coppola, who would go on to be a long-time friend and collaborator, and the rest as they say in showbiz is history.

Cann took the lifestyle maybe a little too well, and in the early 80s and became well known for his notorious partying which lead to the actor taking time off, in the actor’s own words, “it was a pretty scary period”.
