JMR – Shivers

FACT: JMR’s Shivers will give you the shivers. Smooth tempo, a calming voice and just the right amount of rhythm and blues, JMR, the initials for Joshua Michael Robinson is 2014’s R&B Buddhist. This is discovering music at its best, when the secret behind the ultimate ‘chill out music CD’ is actually just a the click of his soundcloud below.

JMR

With a falsetto sent from the heavens, a dash of R&B and enchanting lyrics, JMR is set to become a staple of your chill out playlist.

JMR’s falsetto is the glue that sticks the sound together with the silky synth that accompanies his voice and enchanting lyrics. JMR’s sound also has the unpredictability of one of Drake’s albums, a few top quality pop tunes, amazing R&B hooks and a side of folk on the side. It seems that he familiarizes himself with full time dabbling and takes the challenge to have an ambiguous music identity. Fun fact: JMR is from Lakeland, Florida and is very much into monochrome photography to match his suave musical impressions.

Keeping a low-key internet profile, it’s hard to imagine the face behind this musical genius, but this is just a reminder that good music shouldn’t be plagued with the critique of physical identity alone. In his song: Shivers, he has qualities that sound a tad similar to James Blake and his piano but in the second half of this song he transforms into TheWeeknd’s Abel Tesfaye’s twin brother with chilling echoes of grace and despair mixed into one brilliant song.

Like his soundcloud hashtags, JMR is the pioneer to your heart and it’s no surprise when his musical influences draw from, Thom Yorke, MF Doom, Ray Lamontagne, Lovedrug, Mos Def, Damien Rice, Sleeping at Last and Phoenix. Even though JMR has made his singing public since 2009, he definitely deserves a bigger following on all internet platforms, but with singles Shivers and Doesn’t Feel Human, he should find some long term loving fans.

These singles are now available for the great pleasure of your ears on Itunes, Spotify and Soundcloud. JMR also recently disclosed on Facebook that he had just written a song that had changed his life, hopefully it changes yours!
