The Darlo Bar have announced that Joel Ebsworth has taken the cake as the winner of their 4 Pines Mural Art Competition.

Creative designers, artists, graphic designers and students were asked to submit their artwork to be incorporated onto the iconic facade of the Darlo Bar, to “add to the social amenity of the area and allow our wonderful artistic community to weave their talent onto our walls.”

56 nominees had their artworks on display inside Darlo Bar and bore witness to a public vote on the best work, Ebsworth receiving first place. The Darlo Bar is a small pub with a big personality which attracts characters from all walks of life and Ebsworth’s new doggy-themed design will be the perfect addition to this little bar’s character and buzz.

Darlo Bar’s new licensee – and long time Darlinghurst community member – Alex McIntyre shared:

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the number of entries we’ve received. It’s so great to see the art community supporting the local area. Darlo Bar has always had strong ties with the National Art School on Forbes St & Burton St, and a long bohemian history. It’s great to see that spirit continues!”

Ebsworth will have has his incredible design translated onto the northern back wall of the bar, as well as winning $3000 in prize money plus $2,000 in art supplies.

To make this remarkable initiative even better, The Darlo Bar will be throwing a Paint Party on the 21st September to celebrate and see the full-scale mural be created. Info on the free event can be found here.
