It was back in mid-2019 that Jovi Skyler first broke into the music world with his debut single Love Bite. Since then he’s nailed out his fair share of scintillating alt-rock singles, all leading into the release of a debut, self-titled EP.
This month his efforts finally came to fruition, the Jovi Skyler EP hitting virtual shelves everywhere.
Jovi Skyler pulls no punches on his self-titled EP, a collection of moody, sharp, and unfettered grunge ballads with miles of attitude.
Those who’ve been following Skyler’s trajectory will find a few familiar faces within the EP, from that debut single Love Bite to Gia, a Studio 54-inspired punk ballad released as the lead EP single.
The songs follow a lean line of influence; it’s all the goodness and grittiness of ’90s alternative rock and grunge rolled into a neat little package. Expect some massive riffs, even bigger hooks, and nostalgia in absolute spades.
The new cuts ring with a similar, lively energy. We Went to the Zoo is all noise and glory; a reckless slice of grungy madness, while Off Track chugs along with the momentum of a steam train. All tracks were produced, mixed and mastered by Skyler himself, a full-circle songwriting machine with – no doubt – plenty more up his sleeve.
And with a follow-up EP scheduled to land later this year, fans won’t have to wait long at all. Until then, there’s plenty of time to familiarise yourself with the Jovi Skyler EP above.
