Kate Winslet on board for ‘Trust’

Kate Winslet is set to star and produce in the new HBO series, ‘Trust’ adapted by Hernan Diaz’s book of the same name.

Kate Winslet (Mare of Easttown, Titanic) is joining HBO for its new limited series Trust, which is based on the recently published novel by Pulitzer-nominated Hernan Diaz.

Winslet has had a productive year, recently winning Emmys as the lead actress in a limited series for her two previous HBO miniseries: 2011’s Mildred Pierce and last year’s Mare of Easttown. Winslet is said to be taking on an executive producing role for the adapted series.

Trust is now in development at HBO, after the channel swooped in and bought rights, the second by the Argentina-born, US-based writer whose first book, In The Distance, was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.

Diaz’s novel immerses itself in the money, power, and intimacy, of the roaring ’20s. The story follows a wall street tycoon and the daughter of an eccentric aristocrat. Together they are on top of the world, but at what cost? The mystery behind their meteoric rise in fame and fortune is investigated by one woman bent on separating fact from fiction. Intertwining their lives and the narrative in an exhilarating fashion, Trust engagingly confronts the deceptions that often live at the heart of personal relationships and the powers that can manipulate facts. Immersive, compelling, puzzling, and ultimately a quest for truth.
