Lindsey Buckingham is releasing his first solo album since Fleetwood Mac

Lindsey Buckingham announced his self-titled first solo album since being fired from Fleetwood Mac three years ago.

Lindsey Buckingham, the band’s former lead guitarist, took to social media to announce the self-titled solo LP, due September 17.

Along with the announcement, he shared the album’s lead single, I Don’t Mind, which he said is about the challenges of romantic relationships.

My new self-titled album is one I’ve been intending to get out for a couple of years now, but on more than one occasion, unforeseen circumstances necessitated a postponement of plans,” Buckingham tweeted.

Now that we’re back in gear, I’m thrilled to finally be sharing this new music with my listeners!

Accompanying the album and single news, Buckingham also announced a list of 2021 US tour dates, kicking off in Milwaukee on September 1.

Lindsey Buckingham is the first solo album from the artist since 2011’s Seeds We Sow, and the first since he left Fleetwood Mac.

In 2018, it was reported that Buckingham had been “fired” from the band, after a disagreement over an upcoming tour saw Buckingham replaced by Tom Petty, the Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell, and Crowded House’s Neil Finn.

Buckingham was an integral member of Fleetwood Mac since joining in 1974 alongside Stevie Nicks, and he helped write many of the band’s classic tracks, including Go Your Own Way and The Chain.

Fleetwood Mac are largely known as THE bohemian-rock band, but Buckingham is hinting that his solo work will be something we haven’t heard from him before.

I wanted to make a pop album, but I also wanted to make stops along the way with songs that resemble art more than pop,” he said.

As you age, hopefully, you keep getting a little more grounded in the craft of what you’re doing. For me, getting older has probably helped to reinforce the innocence and the idealism that hopefully was always there.
