Man wins $1 million lottery while recovering from open-heart surgery

A man in Massachusetts has recovered from open-heart surgery in the best way possible after receiving a winning lottery ticket in a ‘get well soon’ card.

The next great lottery winning story took place over in the USA earlier this month and it’s riddled with unbelievable coincidences.

According to Lottery officials, Alexander McLeish was given three scratch-its inside cards from friends. One of these tickets was a crossword game that could win you $1 million if you revealed 11 words.

The first three letters McLeish uncovered as he scratched the ticket were his initials, A, W, and M, so he had a pretty good feeling from the get-go. But get this; the word that made him a millionaire was heart’ – the very reason he was given the ticket in the first place.

If that hasn’t ticked off your daily quota of coincidences, here’s the kicker. This wasn’t the first time McLeish’s friend had given him a winning ticket. The last ticket only won him $1,000 but considering people normally only win about 10 bucks on a scratchie, maybe we need new friends.

McLeish ended up winning the game’s second prize of $1 million and claimed his winnings in cash last Friday. The top prize from the ticket was $5 million but based on this guy’s luck, he’ll win the full amount next year.

He hasn’t revealed whether he’s going to share his winnings with the friend that gave him the tickets, but surely they’ve got a nice dinner heading their way.
