Meet Analogue Pocket: the portable game station, DAW and synth in one

Pocket is Analogue’s new tribute to portable gaming. Analogue is a tech company that makes products the celebrate and explore the history of video games with ‘the respect it deserves’.

Pocket is their latest triumph in that regard, but it does more than just provide gaming entertainment. This little device will let you shape, stretch and morph sounds as well as capture music, play and sculpt it real time. Pocket by Analogue

Pocket gives you a fully-fledged gaming console and DAW in one little package. Analogue upholds the legacy of gaming with this powerful gadget.

From first glance, the unit simply looks like a modern-looking Gameboy. You would be right in thinking this as Pocket is compatible with over 2800+ Gameboy cartridges. What we don’t see though is under the hood Pocket has a built-in digital audio workstation called Nanoloop. Based on the similar Nanoloop technology that made sequencer/synthesizer cartridges for the Gameboy, Analogue decided to refine the idea with a dedicated device.

Not much is known about the exact layout and design of Analogue’s version of Nanoloop but from the looks of things, nothing has changed too dramatically. Features include a 1600×1440 LCD screen, mappable buttons, stereo speakers and microSD storage. The device also has a rechargeable battery and a 3.5mm headphone output.
