Meet the Cyborg Tattoo Artist, an amputee who turned his prothetic arm into a remarkable fully-functioning tattoo rig

JC Sheitan Tenet lost his right arm 22 years ago. For the last eight he has been working as a tattoo artist. If these numbers don’t quite add up for you we’re not at all surprised. Tenet has a prothetic arm, but one unlike you’ve ever seen before – his has a tattoo gun mounted onto it.

This amputee turned his prothetic arm into a remarkable fully-functioning tattoo rig. Watch the entire story below.

In The Cyborg Tattoo Artist, a video by Great Big Story, Tenet tells the story of how French biomechanic artist Jean-Louis Gonzal built the prosthetic tattoo rig that helped him to realise his creative dream of becoming a tattoo artist.

The two met at a tattoo convention where Gonzal was showcasing some of his works. The mechanical intricacy of Gonzal’s work – which combines taxidermy with sci-fi metalwork – prompted Tenet to ask about the potential of building prosthetic tattoo machine, and the two started to brainstorm from there.

You can watch the full story of Gonzal and Tenant’s prothetic tattoo arm below. It’s a pretty remarkable testament to creative will and innovation:
