Modest Mouse mystery solved: two new tracks are coming on Record Store Day

Modest Mouse is set to release a new 7″ on Record Store Day this April, marking the first new music we’ve caught from them in four years.

The indie veterans premiered one track, Poison the Well, during a live show earlier in the year. It’ll be released as a digital single on March 29th, and then pressed on the A-side of some limited edition vinyl with an unreleased B-side on Record Store Day. The vinyl will be “triangular mint green”.

Since teasing fans with cryptic, mushroom-themed puzzles in the mail, Modest Mouse have revealed that they’ll be dropping two singles on limited edition vinyl this Record Store Day.

In a fresh take on the Zodiac killer’s ciphers, Modest Mouse began mailing out psychedelic triangular puzzles earlier in the month, offering fans a cryptic tease leading up to the new release. The puzzle came with directions “assemble my insides to reveal the advertisement,” with another message that said, “Poison The Well will arrive 3.29”.

The last new music we caught from Modest Mouse was in 2015, when they released their full length album Strangers to Ourselves.

Later in the year the band will be embarking on a massive North American tour with The Black Keys.
