MusicNSW has just announced the first in a string of all-ages gigs to take place in the new year. New Now is a series formed in conjunction with the MusicNSW Young People Committee, presenting a stacked list of affordable gigs, kicking off next year on the 18th of January at 107 Projects in Redfern.
New Now is a state-endorsed initiative giving young punters a chance to become inspired by the energy and experience of live music in spaces specially allocated to young people.
The MusicNSW Young People Committee recognise that in a state which has certainly felt the impacts of recent strict legislation on the city’s nightlife and arts culture, the importance of getting the next generation of music lovers involved and excited about live music is paramount to keeping the scene alive and thriving.
Kickstarting the year in style and diversity will be the pop prowess of none other than Bec Sandridge, alongside indie-shamen Chakra Efendi and Georgia Marley bringing the Western Sydney joy.
It is the focus of both 107 Projects and New Now to curate events in safe and accessible spaces, offering alternative payment options to those facing financial strain, as well as an allocation of free tickets for Aboriginal and Torres-Strait Islander people.
