Narcissism and bad love are artfully tackled in Xavier Dunn’s new single

Xavier Dunn delivers delightfully playful new tune You Lately.

The talented up and comer has worked with the biggest names in the biz and is now striking a match on his own story.

Exploring narcissism and an unhealthy relationship, Xavier Dunn has all your perfect Friday vibes in one track. You Lately is an undercover banger.

Australian singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Xavier Dunn has made his triumphant return with You Lately, a longing anthem on love. Penning the track in under an hour and inspired by his girlfriend at the time, Dunn confides that You Lately is “a love song wrapped in realised narcissism, drugs and fighting”, with lyrics and themes that parallel many relationships.

It wasn’t until later on that Dunn found his singing voice; “I always thought you had to have a big, powerful voice to be a singer” he says, “But then a friend gave me a copy of Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago, and I thought, ‘Oh yeah, he sings like me’”. Now his voice is heard far and wide, accruing over 20 million streams on unique cover tracks he made when “just procrastinating from life and trying to figure out new and interesting recording techniques.”

Aside from his Xavier Dunn moniker, Dunn has also shaped hits for the likes of Peking Duk, Jack River, GRAACE, SUPER CRUEL, CXLOE, Nina Las Vegas, cementing him as an industry heavyweight in the Australian indie/electronic scene.
