Neil Young has published a scathing open letter to Donald Trump, criticising the President’s policies on climate change, amongst other things.

Despite only recently obtaining American citizenship, Young has made his position on Trump clearer than ever. Calling out the President’s outspoken disregard of climate change, policies of segregation, and other questionable political agendas, Young is actively campaigning against Trump and his party in the next election.

“The United States of America, my country, is not a green on one of your branded golf courses that you can ride around on and damage,” he described, calling Trump’s behaviour “unforgivable”. Young encouraged fans to vote against Trump in a series of social media posts, concluding that voting the president out is the only way to“make America great again.”

Continuing on, Young declared his support for Bernie Sanders, “One of your opponents has the answers I like. He is aiming at preserving our children’s future directly…He is truly fighting for the USA.”

Young also accused Trump of degrading his famous song Rockin’ in the Free World, after he used the lyrics in his campaign rallies back in 2016. Young is adamant that there was no permission granted to use the song.

“Every time “Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World” or one of my songs is played at your rallies, you hear my voice,” Young wrote. “Remember it is the voice of a tax-paying US citizen who does not support you. Me.”

One thing is for sure, Trump has established quite the reputation for using social media to respond to those who criticise him. So, it’s only a matter of time before we hear from the man himself in light of Young’s condemnation.
