Nick Cave has announced he will be releasing an illustrated autobiography, coming your way in March 2020. It will be titled Stranger Than Kindness.
Published by Edinburgh firm Canongate, the autobiography “asks what shapes our lives and makes us who we are, and celebrates the curiosity and power of the creative spirit.”
Nick Cave and Canongate have announced Stranger Than Kindness, an illustrated autobiography tracing Cave’s three-decade long artistic career.
The autobiography is being released to coincide with a Nick Cave exhibition at the Royal Danish Library, also called Stranger Than Kindness. The book will be sold as a hardback for £35 or roughly $85AUD.
Speaking about the release, Canongate shared:
“Stranger Than Kindness is a journey in images and words into the creative world of musician, storyteller and cultural icon Nick Cave. This highly collectible book contains images selected by Cave from ‘Stranger Than Kindness: The Nick Cave Exhibition’, presented by the Royal Danish Library in partnership with Arts Centre Melbourne. Featuring full-colour reproductions of original artwork, handwritten lyrics, photographs and collected personal artefacts, it presents Cave’s life, work and inspiration and explores his many real and imagined universes.”
Not long ago Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds released Ghosteen, the group’s first new album since 2016’s Skeleton Tree. On the hometown front, Nick Cave and longstanding collaborator Warren Ellis are playing two Sydney Opera House shows this December, showcasing their compositions for films including The Proposal, The Road, and more.
