Nord Keyboards introduces the Nord Grand

Nord Keyboards have announced a new force in the world of stage pianos, the Nord Grand. From the looks of the thing, it’s going to sit right up there at the upper echelon of electric pianos.

The Grand is Nord’s first piano that incorporates triple sensors, which track the movements of hammers rather than the keys, for that real-piano-feel.

Nord Keyboards has announced their latest stage piano, the Nord Grand, which features triple sensors and an 88-key Kawai hammer action keyboard.

Nord’s new Grand is geared towards the exclusive end of electric pianos and has all of the fancy features and mod cons that you’d expect. Nord states that Grand’s 88-key Kawai hammer action keyboard with its triple sensors delivers “the smooth and natural feel of an acoustic grand piano”.

Nord has split the Grand’s sound engine in two. The Piano section includes a selection of Grand, Upright, Digital and electric pianos from Nord’s piano library, while the Sample Synth section has just about everything else, including strings, brass, bass, choirs, synth as well as licenced mellotron and chamberlin sounds. The synth section has all the tweak-ability that you’d expect from a modern synth, including attack, decay, dynamics, as well as the option to modify your sounds further on the Nord Sample Editor, available on PC and Mac.

On the effects front, Nord says that the Grand comes equipped with high-quality stereo effects based on classic stompboxes, as well as three types of reverb: room, stage and hall. You also get Nord’s Triple Pedal and the option of a wooden frame or foldaway stand. What a neat package.

If you’ve been on the lookout for an elite electric piano, this looks like a great bet. Assuming red’s your thing, head on over to Nord Keyboards Website.
