North Freo Pub Crawl

Following the success of Straya day’s inaugural multi venue event, the Railway and the Swan hotels are teaming up once again to bring the residents of Perth North Freo Pub Crawl – Sunday Edition, with five stages, two venues and more than twenty bands this Sunday the 6th of April.

Australia gets one step closer to having it’s own SXSW with Perth’s North Freo Pub Crawl – a multi venue showcase of awesome local shit.

I don’t even know where to start with this lineup, so I’m just gonna call em as I see em. Kill Devil Hills are a WA institution and take out top spot on the bill and are certainly a band worth sticking around for. Spacemanantics, a psych pop band from Victoria who sound like Tame Impala (cliche much?) mixed with a jangly, Bowie vibe are up on the bill – a super sweet chance to catch these guys before they make it big.

The Community Chest make quirky, bent out indie pop, The Floors make loud, fuzzy punk rock, Datura punch out oldschool psych-rock, The Coalminers Sect drive a fine line between alt-country and Titus Andronicus punk, Huge Magnet get their boogie on, Dilip N The Davs bop along to roots/reggae, while Shimmergloom fill out the necessary shoegaze requirement necessary for every festival, in concordance with the Australian Nu-Gaze Festival Act of 2011.

So this zine has to go out pretty soon, so I’m not going to go through the entire lineup, or else this article won’t get published until the event is actually over. The full list of bands, as well some super cool information and a link to tix can be found on their Facebook event page. The shows kick off at 2:00 pm on the Sunday arvo, and tickets are ~$25.00 which means it’s almost less than a dollar/band.
