Not for the feint of heart: Loïcc lays down a ragged techno mix for Cult Trip x Templar Sound

The underground electronic scene is booming in Australia, and Sydney is seeing rise to a ton of new events, collectives, labels and artists in the space. Teaming up for a steamy takeover at the Chippendale Hotel this Saturday are two of the players; Cult Trip and Templar Sound.

For a full arvo these two labels will occupying both levels of the venue, injecting ounces of local noise into your consciousness one set at a time. To get you in the mood, body and soul, Cult Trip export Loïcc has thrown down a diabolical mix of messy techno. Wrap your ears around it below.

Loïcc cult trip x templar sound sydney show chippendale hotel

Gutsy, dense and industrial, Loïcc’s mix for Cult Trip x Templar Sound is as raunchy as their joint show promises to be.

It ain’t a mix for the feint of heart. Ragged around the edges and distorted in all the right places, Loïcc has definitely brought in more of a night-closing feel here.

A far cry from the breezy summer jams you might encounter if you rock up at 3pm, it’s the kind of set you want tearing through the PA when you’re neck-deep into the night, wandering through a hazy darkness ushered in by 8 hours of top-shelf techno.

But Loïcc isn’t the only one taking the decks at the Cult Trip x Templar Sound show. Let’s take a look at the competition.

Rings Around Saturn

Dan White/2200 will be making his Sydney debut as Rings Around Saturn on Saturday. The only Melbourne selector on the menu, he’s been making waves down south with a continuous output of organic house jams.

Cop Envy

Cop Envy has been kicking it around Sydney for a couple of years, sharing the stage with a ton of local dance legends. Start your addiction with his Boiler Room mix below, or a mix for FBi Radio here.

Hubert Clarke Jr.

The boss man of Outer Time Inner Space (OTIS) Records, Hubert Clarke Jr. recently came up on the international radar for his single Berry  released through LA frontrunners 100% Silk.

Loïcc

Purveyor of the slick mix above, Loïcc’s dilapidated, wonky techno is the perfect soundtrack to the 7am nang-fuelled kick-ons you’ll never ever tell your mother about.

Preacha

Speaking of mums, Preacha is your disco-addicted mama’s gateway drug into the world of modern dance music. Firmly rooted in the grooves of the 80s, this selector has been known to lubricate a dancefloor better than a stock spillage at Sexpo.

Ben Fester

If you’ve been to an underground Sydney gig in the last year, there’s a whopping chance you’ve seen this lad strut a jam. Ben Fester smashes out the kind of house you want to get sunburnt listening to, a glowing take on the genre to float you through the daytime portion of any good bender.
