NYC Subways recently banned dogs unless they’re “enclosed in a container”, so commuters got creative

In New York City, the rules for bringing dogs onto the subway are pretty clear cut: “No person may bring any animal on or into any conveyance or facility unless enclosed in a container.”

Seems simple if you’ve got a Chihuahua or some other toy-sized dog. But what if you own something a little bigger, like a husky?  You improvise.

NYC subway dog ban

NYC Subways recently banned dogs from being on trains unless theyre “enclosed in a container” – so commuters got creative.

Last year, this guy and his husky were snapped on the subway by CBS news producer Alex Romano and it went viral. Since then there has been an influx of similar photos making the rounds on the net: pitbulls in duffle bags, maltese sthtizhu’s in leather handbags, staffies in backpacks.

The world is going to shit, but at least dogs are riding subways in bags. Keep up to date with them on Instagram.
