When Melbourne artist Olympia (real name Olivia Bartley) dropped her debut full-length album Self Talk in 2016, her rhythmic art-pop sounds earned her an ARIA nomination, a triple j feature album, and slots at some of the worlds biggest festivals.
Across Self Talk, Bartley experimented with pop sounds to deliver an album where no two songs sounded alike, yet somehow felt cohesive. It was one of our favourite records of 2016… which is why we’re stoked that Olympia has returned with her new track Star City.
Star City, the irresistibly exuberant new track from Melbourne artist Olympia, will leave you with the overwhelming urge to dance recklessly down the street.
On Star City, Bartley dances through an exuberant blend of shimmering synths, driving percussion, and addictive vocal hooks to deliver a track that’s bursting at the seams with infectious energy.
The track’s accompanying video sees Olympia boldly dancing to a routine of ‘rhythmic-domesticities’… and we guarantee you’ll be unable to rip your attention away.
“I didn’t want to write something that needed a lot of explaining, instead I wanted the song to be like something you’d try on – I wanted it to be immersive,” Bartley says of the new song.
