PREMIERE: Let Funk Dancing For Self Defence give you the 4-1-1 on their new single Werribee

Melbourne outfit Funk Dancing For Self Defence don’t fuck around. It was only in April that the trio released their debut EP Twentysomething; a collection of four hard-hitting indie rock tracks.

And now, just a couple of months later, they’ve unveiled their brand-spankin-new single Werribee… and God help this poor Victorian town. Funk Dancing For Self Defence have gone in for the kill.

On their new track Werribee, Melbourne three-piece Funk Dancing For Self Defence deliver a seriously infectious alt-rock track that’ll probably alter your perceptions of a particular Victorian town.

On the new track, FDFSD stomp through an energetic blend of thumping percussion, jangly guitars, and strong vocal hooks to deliver one of the most scathing diss tracks we’ve come across.

It’s the kind of town where you don’t need teeth,” the band sing. “Check out the dropkicks selling drugs to high school kids.”

I’ve personally never been to Werribee, so I can’t really weigh in on the issue. What I can say, however, is how bloody good this new single is.

With a sound that feels simultaneously fresh and reminiscent of your favourite rock acts, Funk Dancing For Self Defence have pieced together a crunching alt-rock track that’ll stick in your head for days.

Do yourself a favour and listen to Werribee above.
