Perth quintet Our Man In Berlin have been rightfully earning their corner of the dreamy alternative real estate. With their second EP on the horizon, the band drop the delicious Molière.

Our Man in Berlin released their debut EP is it right? back in May 2014. Receiving a really positive response to their music nationally, the band has received airplay from Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, 4ZZZ Brisbane, FBI Radio, Triple R Melbourne Independent Radio and RTR Perth Community Radio. With having such exposure on the airwaves in so many states, listeners have been able to experience this rhythmic and almost hypnotic sounding, which has propelled the band’s audience. So much so that the band then started getting a great deal of international exposure with their music being featured on UK, USA, Greece and German community radio stations.

One of the tracks from theis it right? EP is Cirrhosis and it is extremely fluid, which creates a great soothing atmosphere for the listener. The faster tempo, guitar and bass work in perfect partnership with the almost psychedelic attributes of the vocals to create a piece of dream-pop that is a highlight from the EP. Airhead showcases the group’s expertise in making tracks that walk the line between tranquillity and lively beats. There is a divine weightlessness to this song from the high-pitched vocals and meditative sounds. However the backing music has this solidarity to it that grounds the song and in turn showcases the band’s precision and talent.

The band’s newest release is the single, Molière. Sharing the name with a seventeenth century French playwright who dabbled in tragic comedy, the track uses these themes and similar attributes to, as the band puts it-“Create the narrative not in comedy, but atop heavy bass lines, rhythmic guitars and urgent beats”. This track is more electronically experimental then their previous EP and is successfully executed. Whilst the airiness and almost breathless sound of the vocals have transcended the track there is a greater electronic and rock element. The mixture of the beats, guitar and drums really form this energetic and lively track that will have the listener reaching for that volume button to turn it right up. It is by far the best track from Our Man in Berlin and you can see the experience and growth they have attained as artists.

If you want to catch more of Our Man in Berlin, they are playing three shows later this year, with hopefully more to be announced soon.
