Satanic riffs, apocalyptic drums and guttural vocals: Bloodhounds by Palmerslum will drag you straight to hell

Furious, satanic and frighteningly brilliant, Palmerslum are dancing with the devil in their diverse new EP Bloodhounds.

This alternative punk-rock three piece hailing from the depths of Melbourne are made up of drummer Scott Stronarch, bassist Nathan Edward and guitarist Chris Cleveland who ties the three together with his compelling vocals.

One EP already under their belt, Palmerslum are refusing to hold back and continuing to deliver a powerfully unique sound with Bloundhounds.

With a clear objective as simple as ‘mosh till you drop’, there’s no question that Palmerslum have achieved it all with Bloodhounds.

Recorded at the renowned Birdland Studios and mixed by Lindsay Gravina, the EP is a combination of  heavily driven guitars, catchy vocals and a whole lot of head banging.

Bus Stop is the first song on the EP and by far the darkest. The demonic track is all things heavy, second track Drainer following closely behind with an abundance of hellish guitar work.

Satan’s pool is an immediate favourite, bringing everything from a 90s style melody to ragged grunge vocals which create an all-around Nirvana feel.

Three tracks in and the diversity of Bloodhounds is completely unexpected, yet impressive none the less. By the fourth track Mcadam, the amazement continues as Palmerslum shift from 90s rock to a sound resembling The Sex Pistols and one can’t help but picture how awesomely chaotic a live performance would be.

The fifth and final track from Bloodhounds is a perfect blend of 90s alternative mixed with the punk sound that’s dominant throughout the first two tracks. Initially the track eases the listener in, before erupting into ragged screams and monstrously contagious guitar rhythms.

Combining the two distinctive sounds Palmerslum have produced so well in Bloodhounds, it’s the ultimate EP closer.

You can catch Palmerslum launching Bloodhounds at Cherry Bar in Melbourne on August 18 along with Grasshole, RATHEAD, and Mannequin Death Squad. Details here.
