Parkville are a captivating presence on their new single Rooks

There’s nothing else currently making the rounds quite like Parkville. The Melbourne trio (made up of guitarist Liam Bell, keyboardist Michael D’Emilio, and violinist Dylan Knur) marry old-school sounds with modern pop hooks to craft a sound uniquely their own.

Now, with the release of their latest single Rooks, they continue to establish themselves as one of the most exciting emerging acts in Aussie music. If you’re not already across this band, it’s definitely time you changed that.

On their dynamic new single Rooks, Melbourne-based three-piece Parkville continue to establish themselves as a band operating in a league of their own.

Throughout the new single, the band glide through a concoction of folk, pop, and indie-rock to deliver a sound that feels simultaneously grounded and far-reaching. With soaring vocal harmonies and textured instrumentation, Rooks builds into a truly epic slice of music.

The track’s accompanying video sees the band performing the track with all the energy you’d expect. Good luck trying to resist grooving to this one.

Rooks is the band’s first single since their 2018 EP The Peculiar Aftermath, and sees the band further hone in on their rich, unconventional sounds. These are still relatively early days for this Melbourne band, but judging by everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes.

For now, do yourself a favour and watch the video for Rooks above.
