Patti Smith and Soundwalk Collective have been collaborating together since 2016. In 2019, they blessed us with the first two instalments of their Perfect Vision trilogy: Peyote Dance and Mummer Love.
Now, Patti Smith and Soundwalk Collective have announced the third and final album in their Perfect Vision trilogy, Peradam.
Peradam will be the final instalment of the Perfect Vision trilogy, a collaboration between iconic songwriter and storyteller Patti Smith and experimental group Soundwalk Collective.
The Perfect Vision trilogy pays homage to inspirational writers of the past with each of the albums drawing from a different influence. Peyote Dance honours dramatist, poet, essayist, actor, and theatre director Antonin Artaud, while Mummer Love is inspired by French poet Rimbaud. Smith’s new album obtains its title from a “magnificent curved crystal,” which is symbolic of something of value that can only be found by looking for it and draws magnetism from French metaphysical novelist René Daumal.
Peradam is mainly spurred by Daumal’s most famous creation, Mount Analogue: A Novel Of Symbolically Authentic Non-Euclidean Adventures In Mountain Climbing, compares the meaning of life to an alpine ascent. The album includes several quotes from Daumal and consists of a number of feature contributions from Charlotte Gainsbourg, Anoushka Shankar, and Tenzin Choegyal.

Patti Smith has long been celebrated for her unconventional approach to her art and found the perfect chemistry with the Soundwalk Collective back in 2016. The Soundwalk Collective currently operates in a continuously rotating group of sound artists and musicians who combine “anthropology, ethnography, non-linear narrative, psychogeography, the observation of nature, and explorations in recording and synthesis.”
Earlier this month it was announced that Patti Smith and Her Band will be headlining the first of several line-up announcements for Bluesfest, after her plans to headline the 2020 edition was cancelled as a result of COVID-19.
Peradam is due for release September 4th and you can preorder it here.
