PinkPantheress releases debut album alongside nostalgic new music video with Central Cee.
After a few elusive years of Gen Z pop-stardom, internet-born sensation PinkPantheress has released Heaven Knows – her long-awaited first album – under Warner Records UK, along with a music video for the album’s fourth single “Nice to Meet You” with West London drill star Central Cee.
PinkPantheress’ full-length debut comes at the end of a prosperous 2023 and ahead of a busy 2024; her February collab with Bronx rapper Ice Spice – “Boy’s a Liar (Pt. 2)” – earned her a top-three chart smash across the Anglosphere and the Baltic, and her high-profile feature in Barbie The Album produced the career highlight “Angel” in June.
Preceding “Nice to Meet You” in the album’s string of singles were “Mosquito” and “Capable of Love”, two pensive, lovelorn tracks that served to thematically establish Heaven Knows ahead of its release.
“The record is about grief for a loss but being at peace with yourself in your aloneness,” said PinkPantheress in an earlier press release, “journeying from hell into purgatory, but I’m OK with being there.”
With dancers bearing striped polo tees in a 2D FX flurry of butterflies, graffiti-paint, and spiral-tipped flourishes, the music video for “Nice to Meet You” showcases Pink’s fondness for mid-00s fashion and design even more acutely than before.
Central Cee, whose presence on the track is sure to send it up the UK charts, remixed PinkPantheress’ “Just for Me” in September 2021 to great domestic success.
Despite Pink’s documented shyness, an eclectic list of names feature on the 2-step-driven Heaven Knows: joining rappers Ice Spice and Central Cee are Nigerian singer Rema (who recently also worked with Ice) and R&B songstress Kelela, who appear on the tracks “Another Life” and “Bury Me”, respectively.
PinkPantheress will be headlining five shows across Europe on her Capable of Love tour early next year. She will also be opening for Olivia Rodrigo on her Guts world tour (from July 19 to August 10).
