Entering the music of Dee Wire (real name Adam Dwyer) is like voyaging into some surreal, colourful dream. His bright, woozy sounds will swirl around your head, before settling in the depths of your bones. The result is a listening experience not quite like any other.
Today, with the release of his new EP Magpie & The Moon, Dwyer continues to establish himself as one of the most interesting and promising emerging songwriters in Aussie music. It should go without saying that we’re stoked to be premiering it for you today.
On his new EP Magpie & The Moon, Melbourne-based artist Dee Wire presents a collection of hallucinatory psych gems that you’ll have no problem getting lost within.
Throughout the new EP, Dee Wire weaves together elements of early rock n’ roll, vintage pop, and psychedelia to craft a sound uniquely his own. With bright vocal hooks and hallucinatory instrumental arrangements, Magpie & The Moon is a completely immersive collection of songs.
EP opener Catch Them With Our Eyes will lull you into a vibrant summertime day-dream; a blissful feeling that is maintained by the EP’s remaining tracks. From here, Dwyer will lead you through various sonic dreamscapes that are guaranteed to leave you feeling hypnotised.
Magpie & The Moon is Dwyer’s first release under the moniker Dee Wire, but judging by what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes.
For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new EP above.
