Since releasing their debut album The Eternal Presence back in April, Sydney outfit Grill have been summoning the Gods Of Funk and directing their power into the souls of listeners all over the country.
With their unique fusion of sounds, the four-piece ooze out a unique brand of music that’s not quite like anything else currently making the rounds. Today, we’re stoked to be premiering their new single Dirty Two.
On their new single Dirty Two, Sydney based four-piece Grill create a sound that’s unlike anything else currently making the rounds. If you haven’t been paying attention, it’s definitely time you started.
Throughout the new single, Grill weave together characteristics of prog, rock, funk, and psych to deliver something that’s completely their own. Throughout the new song’s five-and-a-half minute duration, the band will pull you in myriad directions. Dirty Two never sits in one place for too long – it’s a truly exciting listen from start to finish.
“I like to describe Dirty Two as thick fluid of funk that snakes through a solid rock backbone,” says guitarist Andres Rodriguez.
And honestly, it’s a pretty fitting description. The new single flows through a variety of sonic soundscapes, leaving a trail of funk-fuelled destruction wherever it goes. While it’s tempting to simply categorise Grill as a prog-rock band, it wouldn’t be accurate – they’re so much more.
The band take elements of prog and blend them a smorgasbord of other sounds to create something completely new. This is one of the most exciting new projects we’ve come across in some time.
These are still relatively early days for Grill, but judging by everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes from this Sydney band. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to hear where they take us next.
