PREMIERE: Fall for Lovers, the masterful new jam from Perth rockers J.F.K

J.F.K, the suited-up rockers from out west, have dropped their latest single Lovers.

It’s dramatic, it’s considered, and it’s altogether huge. Songwriter and vocalist James Knox needs to get out of the pubs and into a stadium, bringing in a space-filling transcendence and a pronounced, striking timbre.

Perth outfit J.F.K shoot for the throne on Lovers, a stupendously crafted rock track seasoned by the genre’s greatest forebears.

Though they embody more of a psychedelic, shoegaze-y edge than rock’s currently active superstars, that’s not to say J.F.K aren’t outside the sphere of influence entirely.

Lovers feels like a potent amalgamation of all that goodness, harbouring the best ends of the band’s inspiration and twisting it into their own monster.

The slow, considered authority of the Arctic Monkey’s fifth LP AM permeates Lovers, infecting it with a shot of brash, Britpop prestige. Meanwhile the structure rings true of more classic Queens of the Stone Age (and I’ve gotta say, J.F.K’s refined demeanour screams Josh Homme).

Those who want a singalong melody, those who want to smash their head around and those who want to be blasted by a My Bloody Valentine-esque wall of sound will all find a friend in Lovers, for sure one of J.F.K’s most addictive jams to date.
